Service Description

Working with UV cured resins (all gel product is a variation of a UV cured resin) successfully AND safely requires a reasonable understanding of the science and chemistry behind the products we are using in salon. Unfortunately, some of our training glosses over some key details or aspects of the science behind our product, or creates a simpler, and inaccurate explanation that's "easier to understand", assuming we do not have the capacity to understand the true explanations! (heat from exothermic reactions being explained as friction - I'm looking at you!) This session has been created to fill a potential gap in your knowledge, and empower you to understand how your product performs, and how to use it to its best potential, as well as how to be more prescriptive with your services to better accommodate your client's individual nail types and lifestyles. It will also empower you to understand exactly what is (or could be) in your products and therefore make better educated decisions on the brands you use in salon. This is a BRAND NEUTRAL session where we will run through: - The building blocks of UV cured resins - How curing lamps actually work - Gel vs Acrylic Systems - Allergies - How to read an SDS and identify key "red flags" - A deeper dive into the comparison between Monomers & Oligomers Plus many fun facts and important information straight from the mouth of Jim McConnell, Light Elegance's Head Chemist & Owner. This session will be run like a seminar, so be prepared to take notes AND ask questions! Nothing is off the table! Within the booking form, you will see there will be an opportunity for you to share any questions or extra topics you would love to be covered in this session. Please do try to think of at least one thing you are either most interested about, wish you knew more about, or have struggled to understand thus far!
